Is your snoring keeping you and your loved ones awake at night?

We can help you to finally enjoy a peaceful and restful night’s sleep

The reality is that snoring can be a very real problem. It can cause embarrassment and lack of sleep but also it can undermine your relationship by affecting your partner’s sleep as well.

At our clinic in Malvern, we take the issues caused by severe snoring seriously. Just call one of our helpful team members and they will be happy to talk to you about how we can help treat the misery caused by snoring.

Why am I Snoring?

Snoring happens while you sleep as the muscles that are located in the upper airway of your body relax, which in turn causes an obstruction and bottle neck of the airway passage. These obstructions will cause the sort tissue around the airway passage to vibrate, which causes snoring and the associated noise.

It is well-known professionally that every person who suffers from Obstructive Sleep Apnoea is a snorer. If you are a regular snorer and your snoring is loud, please read our page on sleep apnoea. If you frequently feel tired during the day it is possible you suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).

However, people can snore for many reasons some of which are completely in your control, meaning you can significantly reduce the chance of snoring yourself, or even completely eliminate it. One of the first things to really look at is your lifestyle. If you can manage your weight and lead a healthy lifestyle, it can have a positive impact on reducing snoring.

Reasons you are snoring:

  • You may be overweight
  • You may drink excessive alcohol or drink before sleeping
  • Taking sleeping pills
  • Allergies
  • Lack of exercise
  • If you are a smoker
  • Having a blocked nose

Struggling to control those factors?

At Ascent Dental Care Malvern, we use Mandibular Advancement Devices, which are non-invasive but very effective in the prevention of snoring. The devices push the tongue and lower jaw forward, preventing the soft palate from vibrating and producing the snoring sound.

This treatment is cost effective, simple to use and has great results. Most of our patients have experienced an improvement in their snoring and quality of life.

The Life Changing ‘Somnowell’ Anti-Snoring Device

Somnowell is a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) that has been created and developed to help people with snoring. The Somnowell device was recently featured on BBC 1 Goodnight Britain, and is now available at our clinic in Malvern to offer our patients a truly effective and comfortable solution to snoring.

Somnowell works by holding your lower jaw and tongue in a forward motion while you sleep. This will stop the tongue from dropping back and blocking the airway passage, and stop the soft tissue from collapsing and causing the vibrations in the airway passage that lead to snoring.

Somnowell is made from a strong cobalt chrome alloy material that is comfortable to wear while you are sleeping, but also has the strength to last. The device is strong enough to survive general wear and tear and does have a good resistance against bacteria that can have adverse effects on acrylic and plastic devices.

The Somnowell device is tough, durable and extremely comfortable to wear, patients report little difficulty wearing Somnowell MAD

Somnowell has been medically and scientifically proven to have a positive outcome treating both snoring and sleep apnea. The device has mainly been designed to treat snoring but it can also be used for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) and TMJ/Teeth grinding
