Fixed Braces
in Malvern

Have you Heard About our ‘Straighter Teeth Programme’?

‘Fixed braces’ is the term used for traditional orthodontics and these are probably the most commonly used type of braces. Often referred to as “fixed appliances” or “train tracks” they are brackets fixed to each tooth with a thin wire running through them. In spite of recent innovations in orthodontics these traditional braces are still widely used due to their versatility.

I had fixed braces via Ascent and have just had them removed today. I am so happy with the results. I had consultations at about 5 or 6 different places before going with Ascent and I chose them because they made me feel the most relaxed, gave me loads of options and didn’t push any particular treatment on me like I felt other places did.

I would 100% recommend them to anyone thinking of having any dental work done. They kept me updated throughout the whole process explaining what would happen next.

I couldn’t be happier with the results!

What Are the Benefits of Choosing Fixed Braces?

  • The braces will be working continuously to straighten teeth
  • There’s no need to worry about removing aligners to clean them or forgetting where you have put them
  • This particular treatment is very precise, and is likely to be the best way to get the most perfectly straight smile
  • You can opt for clear, tooth coloured brackets and wires which look less cosmetically intrusive

We offer 0% finance at our clinic in Malvern which means that Fixed Braces are accessible and affordable for all

Types of Braces

AcceleDent

is a modern day orthodontic device that can be used alongside wearing your braces to help speed up the overall straightening process. It is a small device that you place into your mouth for around 20 minutes a day. It then uses short pulse technology to gently vibrate the teeth. The device is easy to wear and extremely comfortable. For those patients looking for a super speedy end to crooked teeth, AcceleDent could be the perfect solution.

Dany Coated Archwire

For patients who have opted for tooth coloured wires during their fixed orthodontics, a common problem can be that the wires holding their brackets together can become discoloured when eating dark foods such as curry’s. The Dany Coated Archwire has been developed with a special coating on the arch wire that stops the discoloration happening. This is a great option for patients who lead busy social lives and are often ‘on the go’ and is very simple to fix in place.

At your Straighter Teeth consultation at Ascent Dental Care Malvern, we will:

  • Carry out a thorough examination of your entire mouth. This is to make sure your teeth and gums are in a healthy position to wear braces
  • We will usually take x-rays, again to ensure the foundations of your teeth are healthy and also to assess angles of tooth roots
  • We will probably take a ‘full-mouth’ OPG x-ray, commonly used by Orthodontists to assess teeth alignment and development
  • Take digital photos of your teeth, face, and facial form to allow us to assess the severity of the misalignment
  • Talk to you!

We want to learn all about you, in particular your lifestyle. This is particularly important in adults when considering teeth straightening for cosmetics reasons.

  • What is your profession?
  • Do you play contact sports?
  • Do you play a musical instrument?
  • Do you have a special occasion or wedding on the horizon?
  • Are you nervous or suffer from a gag reflex?

FAQs

Are Fixed Braces uncomfortable?

Your teeth and mouth will adapt very quickly to change and after a few days/1 week your Fixed Braces will feel part of you. Initially, your teeth may feel tender to start with and you will no doubt feel aware of your new addition but most patients soon forget that they are there.

What foods should I avoid?

Having a fixed brace will mean you need to make some slight changes to your usual routine (we promise it will be worth it!). You will need to think carefully about your food choices. Fixed braces do not like hard foods, so, if you do eat these you will need to take extra care but we ask that you refrain from eating very sticky foods such as toffee or chewing gum as these will most certainly cause damage to the brace.

How do I care for my Fixed Braces?

At our clinic in Malvern our wonderful Hygiene team will spend time showing you how to care for your fixed brace at home. We will provide you with a range of bespoke products that you can use and home & ‘on the go’ to ensure that you keep your fixed braces clean and your mouth healthy at all times during treatment.
